Yes. Twitter enables something approaching the collective mind of the wolf-like 'Tines' of Vernor Vinge's science fiction novel "A Fire upon the deep". Twitter is becoming a cesspit of indirect allusion and insinuation - the preferred weapons of chose for those with a passive-aggressive bent.
If I hadn't upgraded to Firefox 3, I could label this thread as a favourite. Instead, I'll add it to my delicious links along with the memory of the faithfully departed Jaiku @conor.
@Walter I'm wondering if I have a different understanding of 'Passive Aggressive' to you. My understanding is pretty much the Wikipedia definition --- "Passive-aggressive behavior refers to passive, sometimes obstructionist resistance to following authoritative instructions" --- but I think you've a different slant on it? (which I most likely agree with).
@EirePreneur It really is fascinating though. How fast do your thoughts go at?The speed of light?I think that all this streaming of consciousness will really accelerate things.Especially shared consciousness...
@topgold Vernor Vinge is a mathematician and computer scientist who also just happens to write brilliant "Hard" SF. My wife hates SF but read "A fire upon the deep" cover to cover.

@Ina definitely, that was one of my earliest perceptions of Twitter - http://eirepreneur.blogs.com/eirepreneur/2006/12/telepathy_comes.html

@Ina If you haven't already, you should read Vernor Vinge's (non-fiction) Singularity paper. Fascinating stuff. http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/faculty/vinge/misc/singularity.html

Pointing to "singularity" as a 4th year term of reference.
